Tommy Swerdlow is a screenwriter, director, poet, novelist, and actor. He is best known for writing the movie Cool Runnings and other family films, including Little Giants, Snow Dogs, and more recently Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, Puss In Boots The Last Wish. He is currently working on the next installment of Shrek and recently finished writing an “origin story” script for Donkey (The Eddie Murphy character in the Shrek movies).
His film A Thousand Junkies, which he directed, co-wrote, and co-stars in, premiered at the 2017 TriBeCa Film Festival and was released by The Orchard in January 2018. His work in television includes the series Brutally Normal (WB 2000), which he co-wrote and co-created. His acting credits include Real Genius, Hamburger Hill, Howard The Duck, and Child’s Play.
Stark House Press published his first novel Straight Dope in July of 2021, and his poems are scattered all over the place
Swerdlow is from New York City. He moved to LA in 1983 and has lived there ever since.
