Author Joe Ide learned the power of observation early on, growing up as a quiet Japanese kid in South Central LA. He eventually harnessed that curiosity of other people into his award winning IQ series, following Isaiah Quintabe, a Black private eye who takes the cases in his community the cops won’t take. Now being made into a TV show EP’d by Snoop Dogg(!), Josh asks Joe how his writing has been influenced by his unique childhood, feeling like an outsider, and bringing new perspectives to the mystery and crime genres.
