In anything we can know, there are three spheres of knowledge.
There’s what we know.
There’s what we know we don’t know.
And then there’s the sphere of knowledge that absolutely dwarfs the first two:
There’s what we don’t know we don’t know.
This concept taps into what can be called The Beginner’s Mind.
And when we can cultivate the attitude of The Beginner’s Mind, we become open to many lessons life can teach us.
This openness allows us to meet each moment with presence, acceptance, and compassion and facilitates our balance and happiness in the face of even the most difficult of life’s challenges.
And in turn, this Beginner’s Mind facilitates effectiveness in every area of our lives.
Especially, but not limited to, parenting.
How would you like to develop a Beginner’s Mind in your life?
