As human beings, we are always motivated by our emotions.
We are motivated towards something we love or we are motivated away from something we fear.
And because of the way our brains are wired for survival, the negative emotions have an overwhelming advantage.
In fact, the psychologist Barbara Fredrickson and her colleagues have found the ratio of negative to positive emotions we typically feel to be 3:1.
And this is why it is so powerful and important, as we practice moment to moment, non-judging awareness, to do so with a level of kindness and compassion for ourselves and others.
This practice will neutralize the negativity bias in our implicit minds and free us to be truly present and truly optimized to experience the fullness of life and accomplish things we once might have thought were impossible.
