Nichole Proffitt, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Certified Mindfulness teacher and MBSR instructor at UCSF. Nichole has been practicing and studying mindfulness, meditation, and somatic healing since 2000.
In addition to teaching Mindfulness teaching and facilitation, Nichole works in private practice offering a form of counseling and coaching which integrates mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, and spiritual healing for women addressing a range of wellness issues, including acute anxiety and stress, addiction recovery, healing from trauma, chronic illness, and grief and loss, with a specialization in helping women heal the trauma of dysfunctional and unhealthy relationships, growing up in alcoholic or abusive families, and the various emotional addictions (such as codependence, perfectionism, people pleasing, victim thinking, and enabling) that often result.
She also teaches workshops and retreats and offers mindfulness-based programs at various institutions and organizations throughout the Bay Area.
At the foundation of her meditation practice and her teaching is the belief that mindfulness helps us grow a more skillful relationship to the present moment, thereby allowing us to show up more fully for the joys and sorrows of our lives, equally. All of Nichole's teachings emphasize the cultivation of self-awareness, wisdom, loving kindness and compassion.
