Tyler Monk is a first-generation college graduate, entrepreneur and working professional. He grew up in the inner-city of Portland, OR where he struggled academically throughout high school. At 16, Tyler made a decision to follow his passion of playing basketball. This forced him to focus on his academics, where he began to find purpose in his educational journey. Tyler used basketball to earn a full-ride scholarship to play in college. After graduating with a degree in management and leadership theory, Tyler worked for The Boys & Girls Club, GEAR UP and for 5 years served as Director at The Contingent, leading their scholarship and leadership division. In 2018, Tyler launched the Inspirational story-telling company —The Underdog Mentality (TUM). TUM is an adoption of an overcoming obstacles mindset.
