Listen

Description

One of the more taboo topics (especially for anyone who isn’t a cisgender man), Danielle and April demystify discussions of masturbation. Join them, as they uncover some of the roots of the shame connected to masturbation, dismantle gender normative assumptions about it, discuss the scientifically proven benefits of it, and share their personal anecdotes about discovering what brought their bodies pleasure growing up. The fact is, many people of all different backgrounds and identities masturbate. So, instead of hiding a natural inclination for personal pleasure, let’s work together to speak frankly and with sex-positive language.

At times, the discussion turns to the challenges of masturbating including how sexual and relationship harm, as well as how we feel about our bodies and our genitals, can impact our ability to engage our bodies, and these topics can be activating for some. Please take care of yourself, listen to your body and turn off the episode, if needed.

If you or someone you know has experienced a sexual assault or relationship violence, we encourage you to reach out for help.
