Description

Today on Good Sex @NYU, Dr. Marybec Griffin joins the podcast. Dr. Griffin holds a PhD in Social and Behavioral Health Science from NYU and is a professor at NYU and Rutgers University. She is a trained doula, certified sexologist and co-creator of Dr. Period Hackers, a menstrual health research education collective.

In part one of April and Danielle’s conversation, Dr. Griffin describes hearing the song “Let’s Talk About Sex” by Salt-N-Pepa, a revolutionary experience for her as she had not heard three women rapping about protecting themselves and enjoying sex. This led Dr. Griffin to focus her career on de-stigmatizing sex and menstruation for future generations. She shares her two research studies based on health messaging in music. Dr. Griffin also discusses her work around period poverty and the collaborative educational collective she co-founded called Dr. Period Hackers.
