Today on the podcast, April and Danielle are joined by Dr. Pekka Santtila, a professor of psychology at NYU Shanghai and a global network professor at NYU. Dr.
Santtila’s research focuses on legal psychology and human sexuality where he aims to understand and develop treatment for sexual dysfunction.
In this episode, Dr. Santtila reframes our definition of sexual dysfunction to what the term means to the individual, not how society perceives it. He shares his research on fast or premature ejaculation, what this even means, and the interventions that are being considered for those who experience it. Dr. Santtila also explains how instinctive feelings of disgust could impact our sexual lives and how Sensate Therapy is used as a way to deepen intimacy and pleasure between those in a romantic and/or sexual relationship.
