Last week we saw that even in the early church, the spirit of the antichrist was already at work. John warned of those who infiltrated the church turning people away from the truth of the gospel and the truth that Jesus will come again. Scoffers placing doubt in the hearts and minds of believers. Deception is still the primary role of the enemy along with fear. If he can cause us to doubt who we are in Christ, then he can lead us away from the truth. But for those of us who have heard the truth and believed, the Spirit of God teaches us, and He will never go against the word.
John 14:2
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
1 Corinthians 2:13
These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
John told us to be aware and awake so when the Lord returns we will not be ashamed at His coming. This week we will pick up in 1 John chapter 3. We are going to see the wonderful relationship we have with the Father because of Jesus and what this means for us.
