Well we finished up our study in Malachi last week and we saw a continued theme of half- hearted religion rather than a whole hearted relationship. From sacrifices and marriage, to tithing and offering, Israel was just going through the rituals. They dishonored God in every way, and yet in their minds they were in good standing. We as the church need to take note of how God dealt with them in their disobedience and rebellion. God’s word is holy and true and many today who claim to be believers, treat it with contempt. We live in a cancel culture who wants to redefine everything from marriage to gender all to satisfy their sinful lusts, and silence all who disagree with them. God defined both, and who is man that he should contend with God.
Job 9:2-4
2 “Truly I know it is so, But how can a man be righteous before God? 3 If one wished to [a]contend with Him, He could not answer Him one time out of a thousand. 4 God is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against Him and prospered?
Job 40:1-5
Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said: 2 “Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it.” 3 Then Job answered the LORD and said: 4 “Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth. 5 Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”
Ultimately, God will judge according to His word and no one will have an excuse.
