Did our hearts not burn within us? This is an experience that comes right before a revelation. The excitement that builds when they announce you as the winner of an award or competition, the conversation or events leading up to a marriage proposal or even opening up presents on Christmas or birthdays. For a new believer, this is truly an eye opening event. These two disciples walked with Jesus and while He told them all the things that would come to pass, they couldn’t process it after Jesus died and was buried. But when Jesus came alongside them, while they didn’t yet recognize Him, their spirits were already beginning to awaken and the more He walked and talked with them, the more they wanted to hear. The build up to the awakening. This should be where we as Christians come when we meet Jesus, like an amazing awakening to truth that puts all things into perspective. Many today hear or know about God, but their spirit hasn’t been awakened to the relationship with Him. It’s just head knowledge, but a true disciple of the Lord, knows Jesus and hears Him when He speaks.
