Queen is a British rock band formed in 1970 in London by Freddie Mercury (lead singer) Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) later joined by John Deacon (bass). they were initially called Smile, until Freddie decided they needed a more extravagant name such as Queen.
