Mexicoโs famously colourful and exuberant markets appear in every travel show featuring the country, but the history of the grand Mexican markets dates back to the 14th Century when the expansion of the Aztec empire created thousands of roads that brought unimaginable wealth and products form every corner of the territory.
This first part special focuses on the โtianquiztliโ or market of Tlateloco, the most widely documented ancient market at the heart of the Aztec empire, destroyed at the hands of Spanish conquistadors in 1521 but not even this ended the long tradition of marketsโฆ this fascinating story will continue on the second part of this special.
