4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (Jo.15:4-5).
14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. (1 Jo. 5:14–15).
Principles Of a Powerful Prayer Life
A powerful prayer life is part of a relationship, not religion (Mt. 22:37, Luke 10:38-43, John 17:3).
- Why?
1.Prayer is a command (Phil. 4:6)
2. Prayer is crucial to understanding scripture (Psa. 119:18)
3. Prayer leads to peace and joy (Jo. 16; Ja. 4:2)
4. Prayer is an essential to winning spiritual warfare (Ma. 9:29; Eph. 6; 2 Cor. 10:3-5).
5. Prayer may lead to healing (Ja. 5:15-17)
whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. 1 Jo. 3:22
“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him” (Pro. 15:8).
6. Prayer is crucial to obeying and serving Christ (Jo. 15:7-8)
7. Prayer is crucial to evangelism (Acts 2-4).
8. Prayer is central to revival (2 Chr. 7:14, Dan. 9:4-22)
