Resurrection Sunday- The Servant of God

“The Reality of the Resurrection”

Ma. 10:32-34

Was the Resurrection Predicted? (vv. 32-33)

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. (Heb. 1:1-2).

Is the Resurrection Real? (v.34)

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed… And they made his grave with the wicked

and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth…. he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many,

and makes intercession for the transgressors.
 (Isa. 53:5,9,12c-e).

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.  (1 Cor. 15:3-7).

For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. 26 And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, 27 whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. (Job 19:25-27b)

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. (Psa. 16:9-10)

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God,He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Rev. 21:3-4).

Does the Resurrection Matter? (1 Cor. 15)

  1. The Resurrection provides the ground for your salvation
  2. The Resurrection provides the power to live new life today

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. (Ro. 6:4-5)

  1. The Resurrection provides our hope for tomorrow
