You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why: Grýla the horrific Christmas witch will eat you and put a rotten potato in your shoe. Step aside Halloween, Christmas is the new and true spooky season. Getting into the holiday scares, Sofie's Choice this week is the mysterious legend of Grýla the Christmas Witch, all the way from Iceland. Described as a troll or giantess who steals misbehaving children and eats them, while her 13 sons known as 'Yule Lads' used to kidnap victims for her, now are known as playful and mischievous gnome-like fellas. Joined together by a horrible fashion policing, children-eating, giant Yule Cat; they make the perfect Christmas family. Was 'The Grinch' influenced by this very true, and very old 13th century Icelandic legend? Guess you'll have to tune in to find out!
