This week for Sofie's Choice is her promised once a month Child Abuse Advocacy Case, this is also the first case we're turning to you, our listeners, to keep your eyes and ears open, as this suspect is still on the loose. On Saturday, April 16th, 2022 local Jeff Meredith was mushroom hunting in a heavily wooded area of eastern Washington County in Indiana when he stumbled upon a flashy Vegas suitcase. Something must have tipped off his instincts, as he felt an immediate need to alert authorities. Not wanting to alert them to a false alarm, he decided to check the suitcase himself. It was unfortunately the body of a small 5-year-old little boy who went unidentified for months. When the truth came out, it was discovered that he was murdered at the hands of his own mother, Dejaune Anderson of Georgia.
I want our listeners to know you don’t have to be a parent to put yourself in the Jordan family’s shoes. If you have a brother, cousin, friend who is a little boy, what would you want others to do for your family if that was your loved one? According to a Fox 5 Atlanta News article, Dejaune Anderson was last known to have been in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. Police searched extensively for her in that area, but came up empty. Police say she’s traveled to several places since the discovery of Cairo’s body, including: Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. She has a home address on Westmoreland Circle NW and business address off Westmont Lane, both in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been spotted driving a 2019 Dodge Challenger with the Georgia plates: CSH7991, that’s Charlie-Sierra-Hotel, numbers 7991. Although there’s no guarantee that she hasn’t switched cars at this point, my hope is she’s stupid enough to still be driving the same vehicle. Dawn had mentioned she was staying with a cousin named Vera when Dejaune was in jail in Kentucky. Sgt Carey Huls makes a plea with the public: “Help us locate her for Cairo so that justice can be served for him”. Anderson is about 5’5”, and roughly 135 pounds. She had short dark brown hair in her last known photo, but she is known to wear wigs and hair extensions, which makes this case more tricky. Police have asked anyone who sees Dejaune Anderson to contact their local police department, or call into the tip line at 1-888-437-6432. And if any of you can, I please highly encourage you to donate to the Jordan family’s ‘Go Fund Me’, they want to bring their little boy home-where he belongs.
