In 1998 Randal and his brother Teego went to live with their father Tony, along with his new bride Marcia Dooley, in Canada all the way from Jamaica in search of a better life. Unfortunately for Randal his life was cut short instead.  In spring of 1998, teachers of a Scarborough elementary school, called the Children's Aid Society, as the young 7-year-old who was in grade 1, had shown up to school with welts all over his arms and back. Five months after the call, 7-year-old Randal Dooley would be murdered, he was battered and bruised by his father and stepmother. On the last night of Randal's life, his older brother Teego, lifted Randal's unconscious body from a tub full of cold water, lifted him over his shoulders, carried him to their shared bedroom, stripped off Randal's soaked pajamas, tucked him under a blanket and lay down alongside him. Sadly, only one of the boys woke up the next morning.
