Welcome back to another episode of Sofie's Choice: Murders & Mysteries, this week Sofie's choice is our second cryptid all the way from France! Between 1764 and 1767 in the southern province of Gévaudan, France, over 100 people were attacked by a man-eating creature of types that was far too big to be a wolf. Many eyewitness accounts from that time describe the beast as being that of a striped hyena, a wolf-dog hybrid, or even a werewolf. With a select victim type and gruesome MO, this seemed too human to be just a normal rural animal attack, but witnesses verify it was in fact-a creature. Tune in this week as we unpack this gnarly beast that went snacking on the poor people of southern France, and what the team's theories are on the Beast of Gévaudan.
