Jesus says He is the vine and we are the branches. Paul says the branches can be Jews and Gentiles (Romans 11), but that He is the one true vine that nourishes them from the Roots. If we don't have a care about Jesus and be intentional, we can be removed or we can remove ourselves (however you want to look at it).
