Hadiza is a Kansas City-based artist who has been playing music for most of her life. Despite this, it wasn't until last year that she released her first full-length album. Shadow Weight is a record that achieves exceptional levels of depth, both lyrically and musically, weaving together themes from African traditional religions and Hadiza's own personal life, set to an eclectic mix of soul, blues, folk, and jazz instrumentation. On this week's show we talked about the long road to Shadow Weight, Hadiza's other music projects, and how the pandemic has effected her work so far.
