This is the English version of a Middle Kingdom story preserved in Papyrus No. 1115 from the Hermitage Museum. In the Colophon, the scribe wrote that he copied the text from the manuscript of another scribe "with skilled fingers", ImenAa son of Imeny. The protagonists' names are unknown, because the Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor isn't a true story, but it's a tale within a tale, perhaps an allegory.
