“Rebel is a hoe..” featuring Tash One

It’s the 18th episode of Beers, Beats & The Biz and we are super excited to be joined by the Queen, MC Tash for another monumental episode.

It’s important we recognise and realise the impact woman have had on contemporary hip hop culture in Australia, and this week we do exactly that with a true renaissance woman.

This episode is epic and Tash is funny, engaging and passionate, in an episode packed with stories from front to back. From her early days discovering hip hop and graffiti through to her various media roles and rap career, Tash is never less than candid.

We talk about hosting one of Adelaide’s earliest hip hop radio shows and how it all came to an end. We talk about co-hosting for Recovery’s first season and why that came to an end. We talk about her true passion, graffiti and how it’ll never, ever end.

Beyond that we talk being mentored by DJ Krisy, New York City, random rap records, fashion and style, writing for street press, creating a magazine and being the first woman in Australia to drop a debut on vinyl. Tash also speaks on the difficulties she’s faced pursuing a life in hip hop.

Tash is among the pioneering woman of Australian music and media, it was an honour for us to sit with her and hear such an amazing story.
