Description

This episode is a journey, DJ Katch is a forefather of hip hop culture in this country and there is not much he hasn’t achieved, his energy has been the driving force behind a cultural movement since its incarnation.

Beginning in the 1980’s, Katch breaks down the era and how it all begun. From the dawn of breakdancing to the birth of graffiti, Katch has been at the helm of a movement and continues to be active within it.

We talk about painting yards and spinning wax, we talk about running a radio show and running a label, we talk about signing acts and signing to a major label, we talk nightclubs, coffee shops and touring festivals.

We talk Triple Zed and The B-Boy All Stars, we talk painting Brisbane’s first panel and breaking at Expo ‘88, we talk Phat Tape hip hop show and Rockinghorse Records, we talk forming the Resin Dogs and the origins of Hydrofunk.

From winning DMC titles, to his residency at Ric’s Cafe and all the way up to starting a hip hop band and touring the globe, Katch has done it and we can never thank him enough for giving us his time and the story that unfolds.
