In 1908 the state of Rhode Island opened “The Rhode Island School for the Feeble Minded” as a housing/farming community for the state’s disabled and developmentally delayed children. Like any other state run facility in the 1900s it was over crowded, understaffed and underfunded with a strange and sadistic superintendent at its head. Later named the Ladd School it was shut down in 1993 after years of scandals and several state investigations. However, some of the residents never left. In this episode Amanda tells us all about the timeline of the institution, the horrors the residents endured and the hauntings that followed after its closing. RESOURCE LINKS:
