Going along with "Letting him be him" another thought I love to remind myself (and my kids!) which immediately drops all the wars is
"She can think that if she wants to"
All arguments stop dead in their tracks when you use this phrase.
The best way to drop an argument war is to understand that the other person has their own agency and truly can think that if they want to. They don't need to agree with you. Different opinions and ideas make our world the amazing place that it is. We don't want to live in a "Stepford Wife" or "Truman Show" life. No one needs to agree with you. You can think what you want and when you get your own back about it and don't need validation from other people agreeing with you, you also can let go of controlling what everyone else thinks also. And you may learn a thing or two from a differing perspective.
