There's a Tech Skills shortage, a problem with productivity and a gigantic gender wealth gap. There are however, millions of women, in work and in need of work who have life and work experience that should they upskill or retrain in tech areas, could make a serious dent in such areas.

Fire and Forte has been a passion project of Host Hannah Maude, sharing the achievements of women 'on Fire' over 40. It quickly transpired there is NO shortage of such women. Problem solvers, innovaters, creators, educators - going after what they see the world needs and making stuff happen. A seriously impressive cohort.

One of their gifts is experience, and the knowledge and confidence that comes with that. Evidence points to this being hugely beneficial to society & the economy. However, at the same time women can find it hard to get back into work after caring for children, or may find their roles in work seemingly more impacted by tech, potentially risking jobs in the future. Ironically, technical or digital roles are more likely to be flexible and well paid, kinda helpful as a working parent, no?

With the ambition to make the most of this brilliance and give opportunity to rewarding, successful careers, we're kicking off our first Tech Week.

Speaking to Industry Experts and women who have got into Tech later in their careers, we want to find out what it's like to upskill or retrain. We can then move the conversation into HOW we help do more of this.
