TITLE: Believing Is Seeing
MAIN TEXT: John 9
BIG IDEA: Jesus heals a man born blind. His disciples asked “Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Throughout the chapter, the disciples and the Jewish leaders indicate an understanding that disability is the result of sin. There is also a debate about whether Jesus himself is a sinner, since he seems to have broken the Sabbath laws, or at least their interpretation and application of the laws. Jesus would later say that the leaders are blind, and it’s worse because they claim to be able to see.
