TITLE: God Is With Us on the Mountain Top
MAIN TEXT: 1 Kings 18
Elijah, the prophet of God, challenged the prophets of Baal to a showdown on top of Mount Carmel. God showed definitive proof of his power and made fools of Baal’s prophets.
God likes mountains. God shows up in big ways on top of mountains - from Mount Moriah in Genesis 22, to Mount Sinai in Exodus, to Mount Carmel in 1 Kings 18. God wants us to see his glory, to experience his presence in awe and wonder. The seclusion and elevation of a mountain top is among the best places to witness God’s majesty.
God is with us in the good times and the bad, from the valleys to the mountain tops. When we find ourselves in a “mountain top” season of life, let’s not forget the one who meets us there to reveal his glory and power. We may cry out to God when we’re in the valley of disappointments, but let’s not ignore him when we reach the summit of success.
