In this episode, Pastor Rhonda and Pastor Seth discuss the lectionary passage in Nehemiah and Luke. These passages point to the law and gospel, and its importance. In Nehemiah, we see someone who has been faithful in studying the law being utilized to share and interpret it for the people of God. this has many side effects, but ultimately brings the people to a place of repentance and grace. The Luke passage is an echo of the reality of the law and its purpose. Jesus, in His hometown, essentially declares what His purpose truly is. He has come to declare the Year of the Lord's Favor, a law that was never fully lived out by the Israelites. This is good news and should be the path that we proceed forth with as we declare the gospel to all around us.
