9/16/21: I’m learning to fall in love with my scars
They are part of us but not who we are
Soft scars, from what can’t ever be undone
Our heart’s scars are healed wounds from when we won

Knowing the war that can go on in one’s soul
And the demons to be conquered and controlled
Rather than feel ashamed, we should feel proud
Our scars are speaking of only strength now

We fought, we won, the war’s over
Our hearts became softer, our souls older
Leaving a depth beneath what was taken
And for that, who would ever replace them?

No, our scars do not define who we are
But sometimes the more scars the more beautiful we are
