Welcome to another episode of The Sporting Change Podcast

Today’s episode is a special one—our very first TED talk-style podcast, where we’ll be sharing “10 Tips to Modern Coaching.” Coaching is both an art and a science that’s constantly evolving. As the safe sport movement advances, so too must our approaches to coaching. In this episode, we’ll dive into redefining success, person-first coaching, co-creating with your team, and yes, we’ll even touch on some wisdom from Ted Lasso! Whether you’re a seasoned coach or just starting out, these tips will help you stay ahead of the curve and ensure your coaching methods are as effective as they are empowering.

Today’s guest, Nick Levett - Head of Coaching for UK Coaching - brings an infectious passion and engaging approach to coach and player development. With 14 years of experience at the English Football Association, Nick has led countless national projects, from grassroots initiatives to high-performance athlete development, coach education, and talent identification. He’s not afraid to ask the difficult questions—those that might make some people uncomfortable but are essential for breaking new ground. Nick is a firm believer in putting the person at the center of the learning process, focusing on long-term development to create not just better players, but better people.

We’re thrilled to have him with us today to share his top 10 tips for modern coaching and to help us all become better, more effective leaders on and off the field of play.
