Welcome to another episode of The Sporting Change Podcast!
In today’s episode, we’re tackling a topic that affects not just coaches, but everyone involved in sports—from athletes to referees, volunteers, administrators, and more: Burnout. In this Part 1 episode, we’ll explore what burnout truly is and how it manifests. We’ll talk about protecting your “yes” at all costs, the real impact of saying yes or no, and we’ll help you recognize the symptoms of burnout so you can catch it before it’s too late.
Joining us today is the incredible Dr. Roselle Gonsalves, Head of Inclusion & Reconciliation at ATB Financial. Roselle also serves on the Board of Governors at Curling Canada, representing the nation at the World Curling Federation, where she is an esteemed Inclusion expert. In 2023, she added “bestselling author” to her list of accomplishments with the release of her memoir, The Ordinary Turned Precious, which quickly became a #1 bestseller on Amazon.
We’re thrilled to have Dr. Gonsalves here to help us better understand burnout in this part one episode which set the stage for part 2, where we will discuss tools and strategies to overcoming it.
