On this day in 1996 Lower Merion beat Coatesville 70-65 in the PIAA District 1 AAAA semi-finals at the Palestra. The game featured future NBA Champions Kobe Bryan and Rip Hamilton. The Palestra bursting at the seems as an estimated 9 to 10 thousand fans packed in to watch.
