On this day in 1985 the Phillies beat the Mets 26-7 at the Vet. Von Hayes hit 2 homeruns in the first inning including a grand slam. He ended the day 3-6 with 6 RBI and 4 runs. He became the first player to hit two homers in the 1st inning.
