Do you have a child you might think have a learning difference? Are they learning at a difference pace than their peers? Do you have an inclination that you child might need some additional support but don't know what to do about it and it's really creating a lot of friction in your home? Or, has your child already been diagnosed with a learning difference and you have no idea how to manage the day to day?
On this episode, I speak with Shannon McNamara, a clinical social worker for 20 years, who specializes in kids with learning differences and helping parents navigate this journey. She has a unique view into the child-parent dynamic as she herself was diagnosed with a learning difference as a child. She focuses on the Connective Parenting philosophy, which is a more inclusive and holistic way of parenting. We get curious about our children's behaviors, and more importantly, how we react to those behaviors, and can identify our own 'buttons' or triggers that might be lending their hand to some of the challenges.
Listen in as we go in depth about what it means to have a learning difference, how the child experiences their world, and how, as parents we can help our kids through these challenges.
