After Trump was elected, she believed the United States as we know it would no longer exist. However, after 2 years, Abigail noticed that the country wasn't in ruin, in fact the exact opposite had occurred. This was the first catalyst that inspired Abigail to look around, and see how powerful the influence of the media was in controlling her perspective.
