In this Lenten message, Pastor Eric explores the tensions we often feel around the dichotomy of "rest" vs. "growth." So often, rest is seen as the opposite of growth, and we value rest only inasmuch as it enables us to get back to work.
Through the Parable of the Fig Tree, this message explores how this dichotomy makes us feel guilt for resting and keeps us from allowing ourselves to honor our limits, and thus our humanity. Indeed, as science confirms, rest is where growth actually happens!
Rather than a dichotomy--one OR the other--what does a mature faith that seeks to integrate both of these look like, and how might that re-shape us and our world? What would it look like to embody that integration in ourselves, in our families, and in the communities we build?
