AbbeyCross is developing a wholesale marketplace to improve transparency, compliance, pricing, and service levels for payments to Emerging Market (EM) countries. Historically, a lack of relevant market data and a fragmented and inefficient wholesale market has meant that margins for payments to EM countries can be over 5%. AbbeyCross’ product roadmap has been developed through a process of co-creation with banks and EM payment providers, with a focus on benefiting the whole ecosystem. While Fintechs have traditionally found it difficult to engage banks, AbbeyCross is showing that there are large scale problems that banks are motivated to solve with the right Fintech partner.
About Mike Robertson
Mike has over 20 years of experience in transactional banking and holds an MBA from Hult International Business School. Working at Bank of America, HSBC and RBS, Mike grappled with the problems that banks and payment companies face in the emerging markets.
About Adrian Brown
Adrian has 25 years of experience in legal, banking and fintech roles. Adrian holds a BA/LLB from the University of Tasmania in Australia. Adrian was Head of Transactional FX Products at RBS and Head of Commercialization for FX Payments at BNP Paribas. More recently, he was Managing Director, EMEA for Buckzy Payments. Adrian remains on the Board of Buckzy Payments UK and has acted as an advisor to three other international payments startups.
