In these two stories Mark sandwiches together, we see again the powerful Son of God at work in the face of extreme desperation. It is through these two characters (Jairus and the bleeding woman) that we see a picture of what true saving faith looks like and what it means to experience the powerful salvation of Jesus. The essence of saving faith does not depend on who we are, but on who Christ is. True saving faith requires our recognition of our own desperation as a prerequisite. And true saving faith means death is but sleep that true believers in Christ will wake from.
