Unity is essential for the purpose of the church. For the advance of the Gospel, for Christ to be lifted up, unity among His church must be present. On the other hand, selfishness leads to disunity, and disunity leads to destruction. Whether in a job, or a relationship, or a church, where there is disunity, it’s only a matter of time before destruction follows. Paul’s message to the Philippians in chapter 2, is that Christ is lifted up through lives laid down. That we have unity through humility.
