Description

Today I’m talking with Nashville-based singer-songwriter Summerlyn Powers. Her career began at 11 years old when she released the single “Alabama Kinda Girl” which went on to become an anthem of sorts within her home state. The accompanying music video features musical mentor Pam Tillis. Now a decade later, Summerlyn is living in Nashville and recently graduated from Belmont University with a degree in songwriting, and is set to release her five-song EP, The Hive,  October 6. Her stories of loss, love, faith, and friendship meld “the fun and the groove” of the southern rock she heard growing up in Fairhope, Alabama.
