In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to members of South-African based Progressive-Melodic metal band, Hiraeth. Channa is joined by Marty du Plessis (frontwoman/clean vocalist), Tome Verschuur (Bass guitar), Luke Cayzer (rhythm/lead guitar) and Johann Harmse (Drums).
Hiraeth is from Gauteng province, South Africa and it’s a unique mix of musicians of different backgrounds, Hiraeth blends a fusion of different inspirations into a sound that is as idiosyncratic as the members themselves.
They have been nominated for South African Metal Music Awards multiple times and Hiraeth, unleashed their brand new 4 track EP titled ‘Aeonian’ on the 4th of November 2020.
