This week we have “The Big Shot,” an episode of Suspense, one of the most popular shows of the old-time radio era. Suspense aired over CBS from 1942 to 1962. This episode first aired on September 9, 1948.
It is based on the short story “Big Shot” by Davis Dresser, which first appeared in the October 22, 1938, issue of Argosy. Under his own name and his Brett Halliday pseudonym, Dresser wrote hundreds of stories for the pulps and crime digests. The Halliday name was later used by many other writers for the Mike Shayne mystery stories.
