Description

Mac Gyver, yes it's his real name. He's the chef owner of 'Akar' restaurant in Gunawarman. He shares his journey from counting numbers in big US accounting firms, getting a job in World Famous 'Eleven Madison Park', cooking his ass off in one of Singapore's best restaurants, to owning his own Indonesian restaurant.

Indonesian food is previously under appreciated, underestimated, and uncool, but now fortunately a lot of Indonesian young chefs are starting to 'care' about it. The demand for restaurants serving elegant food with familiar flavours, has made restaurants turned to serving modern indonesian food. Our country is so large, and filled with different cultures, where do we draw the line? Is pork not included, because the majority of our country is forbidden from eating it? What about our nation's pride Nasi Goreng, which originally came from china?
