We have all been there, right? Trying to get out the door and we've asked our child to hurry up and put their shoes on, or we have been walking to an appointment and our child stops and picks a stick off the ground or to jump in a puddle or to pick lint off of their coat! Or maybe you are looking at your child sitting on the ground still playing with their toys when you have asked them TEN TIMES to put their toys away to get ready for dinner.
Dawdling must be one of the most frustrating, but completely normal childhood behavior problems. It is a common problem that gets all parents soooooo frustrated because it feels like our child is ignoring us or worse, disrespecting us when we've repeatedly asked them to do something and they don't. Keeping them on task can be exhausting! The good news is that we can manage this irritating behavior and help teach our children how to keep moving along using the term "move with purpose" along with some basic parenting strategies.
