💫 Conversational-journey with David Hayward
💫 Gesprächsreise mit David Hayward
🔻 “Everybody deserves the right to explore their spirituality, express their doubts and beliefs without restraint,
and to be supported on their personal journey.”
🔻 The cartoons and artwork I create are huge parts of how I process the spiritual abuse I once faced and the trauma I’m left with today.
🔻 I now live in the in-between. Deconstruction is a journey, not a destination. And I’m still on it!
In this episode I talk to David Hayward (better known as the naked pastor). David is Canadian, happily married for over 40 years and a father of three. He got a Master in Theology and spent 30 years working as a pastor. His life was centred around the church. He was brought up in a pentecostal belief/religion (Pfingstbewegung in German) …until it all came crumbling down.
He is now a cartoonist, author and host of 'the lasting supper' (TLS).
Since his ‘breakup' with the church in 2009/2010 he has started to draw comics about his journey of DECONSTRUCTION.
We talk about:
-his background with christianity
-the meaning of deconstruction
-his epiphany about one-ness
-the church’s reaction
-his wife‘s reaction
-his definition of prayer
🗣️ "Whether you’re churched, unchurched, or living in the in-between….. I hope that somewhere, in my story or in my art, you can find comfort and support on your journey."
