As we gathered to celebrate the Lord's Table together, we considered the instruction Paul offers to the church at Corinth and the reasons behind that instruction. Their selfish, self-seeking approach to communion had actually made it into something it was never intended to be. They were abusing one another and so abusing the commemoration of Jesus, his life and selfless sacrifice for them. How do you celebrate
the Lord's Table? Are you actively serving others? Are you loving others
in the body of Christ? This is Paul's charge to the Corinthians and to
us, as we gather to commemorate and declare again the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior and all it means for us.
Celebrating the Lord’s Table together as a body of believers affirms our personal testimony of salvation and draws us together in unity around the sacrifice of Jesus. As a church, we strive to exalt him in our gathering and interactions together. Communion reminds us of our reasons for gathering every week – it’s Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins.
