Description

As Paul writes to young pastor Timothy to instruct him about false teaching and the church, he notes the inspiration of the word of God. Paul declares, All Scripture is God breathed out. This declaration of inspiration is critical, because Paul is not here making a point or teaching so much on the subject of inspiration. Paul is stating the truth of inspiration in order to express its practical use for believers. If the word of God is actually that - the words of God for mankind, then we should lean into understanding it and living it. Here Paul asserts that truth - the word of God is inspired and then proceeds to explain the first use of Scripture - teaching or instruction. Teaching and instruction lead to doctrine. Doctrine is the substance of our teaching. This is Paul's point: because the Bible is the very words of God, it must be our sole foundation for teaching and it must impact our living.

The church was not designed or created by humanity; it was designed and instituted by God to fulfill his plan for his followers on earth. It is paramount that we understand the nature of the church, the priorities that should characterize the church and the character of the individuals that compose the church. We must ask and understand the answer to the question: what is the church? Therefore, the church is a committed fellowship of believers in Jesus, who passionately live their lives together, striving to live and advance the magnificent truths of their Savior, who’s example perfectly establishes, directs & prioritizes their daily lives.
